Kamikaze header differences

I just traded my old headers for Kami's. It seems like Kami's have changed in design.

The one I got, which was purchased new last summer:

1) 1-7/8" primaries.
2) 2-1/2" collector.
3) Has the spear at the 4-1 junction.
4) Has a support bracket to attach to the stock header support on the rear of the block.
5) Is the correct length for a GSR (stock cat/straight pipe fits fine).
6) At the end of the 2-1/2" collector, abruptly throttles down to a 2" opening to enter the cat/straight pipe.

1 and 2 I expected. 3 was a nice surprise. 4 and 5 really surprised me (in a good way). 6 surprised my (in a bad way).

To all those with Kami headers out there: What are your's like?

Thats odd, I never saw a Kami with a support bracket. Most of the other stuff you listed sounds normal. In order to get the 2.5 out or "spear", you must specify when ordering and some dealers will not offer it to you. I just got one last month and I did see many changes good or bad.

- Same pipe diameters.
- No spear.
- No support bracket (had to fabricate one).
- Too long for GSR; it's the ITR unit.
- 2.5" all the way, no reduction at the end.

I bought mine towards the end of last summer. It had all the same dimensions as yours, except there was no B pipe support bracket. I don't know what the spear is. Mine also had a stock collector and bolted up fine with the stock cat. The Random Tech. Cat was another story......
Mine also had a Kamikaze "sticker" that burnt off after about 2 hours of driving. About a month ago the little piece that was welded on to the A pipes melted off and now I'm left with some rusty spots where is used to connect. I'm thinking about calling Kamikaze and having thm send me a new A pipe. I think the moved it up so it wouldn't do that anymore. I also sent in the warranty registration, but never heard back from them. Anybody else send in the warranty card???

1&2 same; no spear; no bracket; ITR length; 2.5" collector end. The Kami box said ITR, I think maybe you got a GSR hdr.

Could be. I'm happy it fits right with my straight pipe, which is only 2 1/4" anyway, so a 2 1/2" diameter exit point may not have fit.

You def got the GSR header and not the ITR unit. The ITR unit would have been a real biaatch if I didn't have access to a wheel saw (had to shorten the testpipe) but it is much bigger and doesn't get the brace at all. Were you intending on getting the ITR unit before or are you just now figuring out that something wasn't quite right?

I wasn't sure what I was getting. All I knew was that it had a 2.5" collector.

I'm actually glad it turned out to be a GSR header because I didn't want any hassles such as cutting or welding and since my straight pipe is 'only' 2.25", I'm not too upset by the 2" outlet on the kami.

I have yet to test drive the car.
